From agriculture to global health: an evolving foundation
Created in 2007 under the name Agropolis Fondation, the foundation initially supported research projects in the fields of agriculture and sustainable development.
In almost twenty years, its scientific scope has broadened. Today, it addresses more global issues: climate, biodiversity, food, human, animal and plant health.
The name change to One Science Montpellier reflects this evolution. It marks the start of a new era. A foundation capable of supporting interdisciplinary research at the crossroads of major global issues. A foundation anchored in Montpellier’s internationally recognized scientific ecosystem.
One Science: united science in the face of major challenges
Science today is faced with systemic threats: climate change, pandemics, resource depletion, food insecurity, ecosystem degradation…
Faced with these interconnected challenges, isolated responses are no longer enough.
That’s what the name One Science is all about. It expresses our vision of a global, decompartmentalized science, built by several disciplines, several hands, several voices.
A science that brings people together to better understand and act. And to act more effectively.
A science that connects regions, from local to international, to imagine together a more sustainable, fairer, more resilient future.
A foundation serving research and the public interest
The One Science Montpellier Foundation is also changing its role. In addition to funding scientific projects, it is becoming a mobilization and fund-raising tool. It acts as a link between research, citizens, companies, local authorities and philanthropists.
It works to give researchers the means to advance knowledge. And to innovate for the common good. It federates energies, fosters new partnerships and develops sponsorship to support high-impact projects.
